MEET THE CAPTAIN
Derek Marlin is the owner and boat captain for Firehouse Bowfishing. Derek has been a firefighter for 16 years and is currently working as a Company Officer at the Battlefield Fire Protection District. Captain Marlin or as we like to call him Captain Fish is a licensed Captain with the United States Coast Guard and holds a great amount of knowledge operating boats on the Missouri water ways. While at the fire department he is a member of the swift water rescue team regularly in charge of driving the rescue boat. He has also worked 8 years with the Showboat Branon Belle in Branon, Missouri holding positions such as medic, engineer, and even having the privilege of getting to drive the behemoth of a vessel every now and then. His dad started him trout fishing as soon as he was old enough to walk and he has spent his whole life learning the Southwest Missouri water ways. You may recognize the photo listed here. Yes, Captain Marlin is the only one to have found an alligator on lake Taneycomo. Firehouse Bowfishing has laid claim to the big common at the Bass Pro Shops US Bowfishing Open two years in a row. (2021&2022) We also had the awesome privilege of putting one of our clients on the Missouri state record Redear Sunfish in 2022.
You will be fishing on a 20-foot G3 gator tough john boat. Photos cannot do this boat justice on just how large it really is. The flush mount fishing deck can easily accommodate 6 people fishing at the same time. The boat has three foot side walls that will make you think you are on a raised deck while fishing. We have a 65 gallon live well on bord to easily handle all the fish you will catch. We have a cooler on board to keep drinks cold for you or you are welcome to bring your own. We also have dry storage compartments on the boat for anything you may want to take with you and keep safe while fishing. The modified V hull on this boat provides a very stable and smooth ride even in choppy water and has a cruising speed of 34 MPH. For nighttime trips we use an inverter generator to power our super bright lights from Outrigger Outdoors, an advantage to you because it stays quiet enough to still have a normally conversation with your group while fishing. Even fully loaded down this giant boat will draft in inches of water so we can really push into the shallows and get you on the fish. We are constantly updating the boat with the newest and best electronics, lights, and equipment to give you the nicest experience possible on your fishing trip.
