Firehouse Bowfishing is a first responder owned and operated fishing guide service proudly serving Missouri’s lakes and rivers. Built on a foundation of public service, safety, and professionalism, our mission is simple: “We put you on the fish while providing unbeatable customer service.”
From first-time anglers to experienced outdoorsmen, our guided trips are designed to create unforgettable memories while maintaining the highest standards on the water.
MEET THE CAPTAIN
Derek Marlin is the owner and lead captain of Firehouse Bowfishing. A firefighter since 2008 and current Company Officer with the Battlefield Fire Protection District, Derek brings a public servant’s mindset to every trip on the water.
Captain Marlin is a United States Coast Guard licensed captain with extensive experience operating vessels on Missouri waterways. He specializes in guided bowfishing trips across Missouri, combining local knowledge, safe vessel operation, and hands-on instruction to help clients of all skill levels succeed on the water. In addition to guiding fishing trips, he serves on his department’s swift water rescue team and is regularly responsible for rescue boat operations in high-risk environments.
Derek also spent eight years working aboard the Showboat Branson Belle in Branson, Missouri, holding positions as a medic and engineer. During that time, he gained significant hands-on experience with large passenger vessels, navigation, and real-world maritime operations on the White River.
Fishing has been part of Derek’s life from the very beginning. Introduced to trout fishing by his father at a young age, he has spent decades learning the waters of southwest Missouri. Derek is also widely known for safely capturing a live alligator on Lake Taneycomo in Branson, Missouri—an event that gained statewide attention and was covered by multiple news outlets.
If you are looking for a knowledgeable, professional, and safety-focused guide who still knows how to have fun, Captain Marlin is ready to take you fishing.
Firehouse Bowfishing has a proven track record of success on the water. We have claimed the Big Common Carp title at the Bass Pro Shops U.S. Bowfishing Open two years in a row, in 2021 and 2022.
In 2022, we also had the privilege of guiding a client to the Missouri state record redear sunfish using alternative methods.
These accomplishments reflect our commitment to preparation, experience, and putting our clients in the best possible position for success.
Our Boat & Equipment
You will fish from a 20-foot G3 Gator Tough jon boat built specifically for guided fishing trips. The spacious, flush-mounted deck comfortably accommodates up to six anglers while providing a stable and secure fishing platform.
High side walls and a modified V-hull offer a smooth, confident ride even in choppy water. The boat is equipped with onboard storage, a livewell, and a cooler for guest use, with additional dry storage available for personal items.
For nighttime trips, we utilize quiet power and high-output lighting to illuminate shallow water while maintaining a comfortable environment for instruction and conversation. The boat’s shallow draft allows access to productive areas many vessels cannot reach.
We continuously upgrade our equipment, electronics, and lighting to ensure every trip is safe, comfortable, and productive.
